About me

As series producer of the Emmy Award-winning series “Great Performances,” Bill O’Donnell oversees program development, funding, scheduling, promotion and program administration activities for a diverse range of performing arts programs broadcast nationally on PBS.

In addition, O’Donnell manages program development, funding and administrative activities for other arts and culture limited series and specials, including three seasons of “Shakespeare Uncovered,” telling the stories behind Shakespeare’s greatest plays. O’Donnell has also produced content for The WNET Group’s New York City arts magazine series NYC-ARTS, as well as host intros for the film series Reel 13.

In 2005, O’Donnell was honored with a Primetime Emmy Award for his work as supervising producer for the six-part history of the American musical theater, "Broadway: The American Musical" hosted by Julie Andrews. In 2009, O’Donnell was supervising producer for the six-part survey of American comedy, "Make ‘Em Laugh: The Funny Business of America," hosted by Billy Crystal.
